      Morondava

Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting at 6pm on Day 1. You can arrive at any time as there are no activities planned until this important meeting. After checking into your beachfront accommodation, perhaps go for a walk around the town or stroll along the beach. In the evening, seek out a local restaurant for a barbecue dinner.

      Bekopaka

A very early start today will have you heading to the baobab alley for the sunrise. Baobab Alley is a row of about 20 - 25 imposing Adansonia grandidieri Baobab trees along some 260 m long stretch of the road and in the nearby pastures between Morondava and Belo Tsiribihina. Endemic to Madagacar, the Baobabs can be up to 800 years of age and reach heights of 98 feet (30 m). The diameter of the larger trees can reach up to 36 feet (11 m) and the circumference can be up to 160 feet (50 m) around. Enjoy the changing colours of the trunks and the pronounced long shadows of the trees in the amazing surrounding of dry Malagasy bush. Continue the drive to Belo sur Tsiribihina, crossing the Tsiribihina river, for a lunch break. Arrive at Bekopaka in the late afternoon (an 8 hour drive in total).

      Bekopaka / The Great Tsingy

Another very early morning as we prepare to visit the Big Tsingy. We want to get there before the crowds and the heat of the day. Please organise a packed lunch and plenty of water with your accommodation before heading off to the Big Tsingy walk this morning. Cross the Manambolo River and enter the National Park of Bemaraha. The Great Tsingy are an amazing karstic formation with the Bemaraha National Park. Enjoy a trek through this remarkable geological phenomena. The visible vertical drop can be quite intimidating especially for those with vertigo. Animals lovers can look out for the 11 species of lemurs, more than 100 bird species and 45 endemic reptiles and amphibians, including the Madagascar iguana and Antsingy leaf chameleon.

Bekopaka / The Small Tsingy and Manambolo River

This morning enjoy a 4-5 hour walking trek through Small Tsingy. You will pass through a labyrinth of limestones and stop at two view points over the impressive pinnacles. In the afternoon float down the Manombolo River onboard a pirogue (wooden dugout canoe), meandering along the edge of the tsingy forest. You’ll be paddled through the calm waters through the deep gorge under the shadow of towering cliffs. This canoe trip combines with an easy walk through caves, stalactites, stalagmites and the famous family tomb of the Vazimba tribe.

      Morondava

Return to Morondava in time to see the sunset at the Baobab Alley. In the evening, perhaps head to a beachfront restaurant for a farewell dinner with your travelling companions.

      Morondava

There are no activities today and you’re free to leave Morondava anytime.
