      Cape Town

Welcome to Cape Town, South Africa's lively port city. Your tour begins with a welcome meeting at 6pm to meet your fellow travellers and complete the relevant paperwork. Please confirm the location of this meeting with hotel reception on arrival. There are no included activities planned for Day 1 apart from the meeting, you can arrive at the hotel any time before 6pm. If you arrive earlier, perhaps take a stroll along Sea Point Promenade or venture to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and try out the sleek new canopy walking trail.

      Cape Town

Rise and shine! Get up early today for a half day hike up Table Mountain. At the top you can enjoy spectacular panoramas over Cape Town and the Atlantic Ocean, with views of Lion's Head, Signal Hill and the "City Bowl". Give your legs a rest with a return cable car ride to the city. Please note that this hike is subject to weather changes and it is possible the hike may be altered for safety reasons. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure and take part in one of many optional activities available in Cape Town. Perhaps learn about South Africa's troubled past by catching a ferry to Robben Island, jump on the Hop-On-Hop-off bus to explore the city further, or go to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront to see the giant Coca Cola effigy known as Elliott. Tonight we will enjoy a Cape Malay cooking class in Bo-Kaap.

      Cape Columbine Nature Reserve

After breakfast head out to the Western Coast of South Africa and stop at !Khwa ttu Reserve ( 160km's, approximately 3hrs ). !Khwa ttu is the only San community owned and operated culture centre in the Western Cape. Here the group will take part in a 10 kilometre mountain bike trail that offers spectacular views and the chance to encounter antelopes, zebras and ostriches, plus several bird hides. There is also a shorter easier option or walking trail for those not comfortable cycling on the dirt. In the afternoon we make our way to Cape Columbine Nature Reserve, located in a small picturesque bay on the ocean, where the group will stay overnight. This location is perfect for a short walk or relaxing drinks as the sun sets over the Atlantic Ocean. In the evening enjoy a fire on the waters edge and spend the night in individually decorated wooden cabins. These special cabins are powered by solar and gas!

      Cederberg Wilderness Area

If the sea and weather conditions are favourable this morning, then take advantage, and go out on a optional guided sea kayak tour. Afterwards, the group will drive to the Cederberg region, which will take approximately 4 hours (250km). The landscape here is wilder and warmer than other areas of South Africa, with a raw, dramatic beauty created by low lying shrubs and wind-carved sandstone formations. On arrival there will be a chance for a short late afternoon hike to check out the surrounds. Our accommodation is situated on a farm that is also the home of the Cederberg Private Cellars. Sample some of their delicious offerings over dinner.

      Cederberg Wilderness Area

Discover the exceptional botanical diversity among Cederberg's twisted rock formations on a full day hike, visiting dramatic, naturally-crafted sandstone creations such as the Maltese Cross, Wolfberg Cracks and Arch, Tafelberg and Lot’s Wife. This is a great opportunity to walk in a mountain range nearly devoid of other human beings.

      Stellenbosch

Ruggedly beautiful landscapes, stunning mountains and glassy lakes are yours to discover on a beautiful 2 hour hike in the Cederberg Mountains. The group will set out early in the morning to make the most of this natural wonder. After the hike, head towards the wine region surrounding Cape Town ( 245km, approximately 4hrs). Visit a couple of the vineyards, where you can sample and purchase wine from the region. Spend the evening in Stellenbosch, exploring town and dining out at one of the many restaurants in this busy student village.

      Stellenbosch

After breakfast, pop on a helmet on and head out on a full day vineyard cycling tour on mountain bikes. The tour will visit three estates during the course of the day, with an option for an a la carte lunch at one of the wineries. The ride proceeds at a relaxing pace, comfortably covering a distance of approximately 10 kilometres.

      Cape Peninsula / Cape Town

Today the focus is on experiencing the natural beauty of Cape Peninsula. We leave the winelands behind and travel in our vehicle to the Cape Peninsula (55km, approximately 1hr). Here we have the opportunity to jump on bicycles and visit the historic navy suburb of Simon's Town, try and spot the penguins at Boulders Beach, cycle the East and West coasts, and meander through the Cape Point Nature Reserve. The cycling will be rewarded with a platter lunch at the picturesque Cape Point Vineyards, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The ride will be a bit more challenging (approximately 40km) however we will use road bikes on sealed roads. After the cycle, return to Cape Town and perhaps celebrate this African adventure with a final group dinner. Any travellers who do not wish to participate in the cycle will be dropped of at the hotel for a free day to enjoy Cape Town.

      Cape Town

This trip comes to an end after breakfast and you are welcome to leave at any time.
