Join Peregrine on the stylish Harmony V and discover the wonders of this coast. Begin in Malaga and sail to Puerto Banas to explore Ronda, famous for its dramatic perch above a deep gorge. Sail on to Morocco for a tour of Tangier’s medina and a taste of mint tea, as well as a visit to Chefchaouen, the famous blue-washed city. Continue to Seville and Huelva to learn Columbus’ history and wonder at the immense gothic cathedral, and finally drop anchor in Portimao to explore coastal caves before finishing in Portugal’s charming capital, Lisbon. Malaga
Board the Harmony V in Malaga and meet your shipmates. There'll be a welcome meeting and group dinner tonight before sailing to Puerto Banus.
Puerto Banus
Drive to Ronda in the morning for a guided walking tour of Old and New Town. Set high above the deep El Tajo gorge, Ronda is a spectacular town and was frequently visited by Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles, both of whom fell in love with the place. Visit a bodega just out of town for lunch and wine tasting before returning to Puerto Banus for free time. Sail overnight to Tangier, Morocco.
Tangier
Today the group breaks up into smaller parties for a day tour of Tangier. Tour the medina with a local guide, sip mint tea in a cafe in Hafa and perhaps opt for a group lunch at a local restaurant to sample some of Morocco's finest before exploring the Caves of Hercules, where Hercules supposedly rested between his labours. Overnight in Tangier port.
Chefchaouen
Depart early and drive to Chefchaouen, the famous blue-washed city sitting below the Rif Mountains. The blue buildings provide a dramatic juxtaposition to the surrounding countryside and you’ll enjoy a guided walking tour of the city. Take some free time to explore the beautiful cobbled laneways and buzzing squares before returning to the boat in Tangier.
Seville
Spend the day in Seville on a walking tour with a local guide. Seville, the capital of Andalusia and home of flamenco, is presided over by an immense gothic cathedral (the world’s largest) in which you’ll find the tomb of Christopher Columbus. With both Christian and Moorish influences, Seville is an architectural haven and the UNESCO-listed palace, Real Alcazar, is just one awe-inspiring example.
Huelva
Cool off with a swim in the morning at a beach en route to Huelva. After lunch, disembark in Huelva and take a bus to Moguer. Visit Santa Clara Monastery, then travel on to El Rabida. At the dock here, there are replicas of the boats Christopher Columbus' sailed to the New World on – Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria. Spend some time exploring the site before returning to the boat. The evening is at your leisure in Huelva. Sail overnight to Portimao
Portimao
Arrive in Portimao in the morning. Take a trip inland to Silves, a town largely destroyed by a 17th century earthquake. With your entry included, marvel at the centuries-old Moorish castle complex with an underground water reservoir, a 13th century cathedral built by Alfonso X of Castile on the site of a former Mosque and a fine, strong 15th century bridge over the Rio Arade. Take a walking tour of Lagos' walled Old Town before returning to Portimao.
Lisbon
Disembark in Portimao after breakfast and transfer by bus to Lisbon. Your tour ends on arrival at a central hotel.
