Jos Bauk

Jos has travelled to all seven continents and over 70 countries.  Travelling  “off the beaten path” areas of the world are Jos’ main passion especially mountains, jungles, seas and reefs.

During his time in the mountains he has trekked over remote high passes in both the Annapurna’s and Everest regions of Nepal,  summited Kilimanjaro  (5 895 m) via three different routes, as well as summiting Aconcagua (6 962 m)and Elbrus (5 642m), the highest mountains in South America and Europe.  He has also trekked and  climbed  mountains and volcanoes in diverse areas such as Ethiopia, Chile, Bosnia, Borneo, Guatemala and Peru.

Jungle time has included trekking the Kokoda Track in both wet and dry season, the Head-hunters Trail  in Sarawak and searching for Scarlet Macaws in the Pacific forests of Costa Rica.

Jos has sailed through the Mediterranean and the Caribbean as well as a Trans –Atlantic crossing aboard a 49 foot ketch. He has kayaked in Antarctica and snorkelled with sea lions in the Galapagos Islands. A keen surfer and diver has seen him travel to remote reefs of Indonesia, Canary Islands, Ghana, South Africa, Belize, Colombia, Mexico and Nicaragua amongst others.

Having travelled overland from Santiago de Chile to San Diego in the US Jos has a special affinity with all things Latin America.

Jos started work with the Peregrine Travel Centre WA in 1998. Since then he has travelled to even more parts of the globe. He has still kept up his trekking and climbing, in 2012 he helped Mike lead a group on the Everest High Passes trek. But, as he now has a young family, he has also travelled to family friendly places such as Croatia, Sri Lanka and Hawaii. He is our office expert on Club Med holidays and is a huge fan of some of the South East Asian resorts. Talk to Jos about your ideas for both relaxing holidays and challenging adventures. Jos is a true expert.

Jos has many regular clients who return to Jos year after year for their holiday planning, as such he is in huge demand by travel operators that want him to experience their trips so he can advise his clients on their product. Last year Jos travelled to South Africa with G Adventures and undertook the Salkantay Trek in Peru staying in the new luxury lodges (imagine jacuzzis and champagne!) with Chimu Adventures.

Jos led his personally designed Via Dinarica trip that took place in August/September 2016. The trail links 6 Balkan countries, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania & Kosovo and our group undertook day walks along its length, plus visiting the spectacular towns and villages, like Sarajevo and Mostar, that make up the cultural heritage of this region. He has just returned from another very successful Via Dinarica in 2018, 6 countries in 3 weeks with lots of activities like walking. He also won an educational to Jogjakata, Indonesia this year and has come back raving about the culture and the warmth of the people.
