A love for travelling and adventure led Jess to a career in the travel industry and here to the Peregrine Travel Centre WA in 2014.
Not shy about roughing it while travelling, and getting into the local way, she has travelled extensively through Asia.
Jess was originally destined to star in the florist industry having twice won the Australian Florist of the Future award. But Jess’s real love was adventure travel and she made the switch to join us at the Peregrine Travel Centre WA.
Jess has made two trips to Japan now, her first trip with Peregrine was ‘Sushi to Sake’in June this year. Jess also managed to attend the World Championships at the Flower Show and got a climb in on Mt Fuji. She has also snowboarded in Hokkaido; the northern island of Japan and visited the cities of Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and was particularly moved by her visit to Hiroshima. Jess’ favourite place in Japan though is Okinawa where she snorkelled the coral reefs and hired stand up paddle boards.
Jess has also travelled throughout China as well as Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia.
In 2015 Jess cycled her way through Vietnam and Cambodia on an Exodus educational which gave a great insight as to how the cycling holidays work. In keeping with her cycling theme Jess then “Hike, Biked and Kayaked in Turkey” with Intrepid learning more about the style of their trips. She finished the European sojourn with a Peregrine trip in Italy, exploring and hiking the Cinque Terre, starting in Venice and finishing in Rome, which is one of Peregrine’s most popular trips.
In 2016 Jess visited Mexico and Central America, travelling with Peregrine on the Mexico in Depth tour and the Mayan Encounter tour with Intrepid.
Highlights for Jess include the food (and margaritas!), visiting 9 ancient ruins (she can’t decide her favourite between Teotihuacan, Uxmal, Palenque and Tikal), experiencing the Day of the Dead celebrations, camping in Tikal National Park where she was woken at 2am by a jungle full of howler monkeys, snorkelling with turtles, sharks and rays in Belize, and also the chicken buses of Guatemala.
In 2017 Jess escorted a group of travellers from the Peregrine Travel Centre WA to see the Cherry Blossoms bloom in Japan’s spring and then spend time enjoying the cultural highlights of Japan, including a Geiko dinner.
2019 has proven to be a huge year for Jess with a voyage in February to Antarctic via the Falklands & South Georgia aboard the Ocean Endeavour, she now has a huge number of photo’s with penguins, plus, in November, an educational to India with Explore Worldwide through Adventure World.
And 2020 is also going to be busy with her much awaited Japan hiking trip finally reaching release! Jess has designed a trip to take in the UNESCO recognised pilgrimage, the Kumano Kodo and the ancient Nakasendo Way and combine them with the cultural and historical highlights of Japan.
